Yesterday we took our last family walk for a little while. Jonny injured his ankle in a soccer game over the weekend, so long walks are not in his immediate future unfortunately. We took this particular little hike because we are in the midst of trying to make a big decision.
The property next door to us has been for sale for some time now. We hate don't care for the idea of a house being built there. This property is now being offered to us at a very good price because it has been sitting for so long. There are all sorts of angles from which to look at this decision. But I won't go into all that. We have been mulling this over for a couple of weeks and yesterday we walked the property line to see exactly what we would be buying. The fact that a certain tree resides on this four acres makes me lean towards saying "yes."
Of course it doesn't make any sense to make a huge purchase because of an ancient white oak tree that is on it's way out.
Then again, maybe it does.
We have spent so much time at the big ole' oak over the years, never thinking that owning it would ever be possible.
Back and forth, back and forth. We need to make up our minds this week.
I took the opportunity to get a new photo of the kids in front of what may soon be our tree. They were not happy about it. I don't know why it is so hard to sit down for a couple of minutes and try to look mildly pleasant. Beatrix didn't mind. In fact she sat playing with leaves quite happily for some time after the other children scattered.
